The UK has one of the more detailed restricted-items lists for sea cargo shipments from Nigeria, and it catches a lot of first-time shippers off guard.
Commonly restricted items include meat and meat products, fish, chicken, dairy, alcoholic drinks, egusi (both ground and unground), unground ogbono, Fanta and other orange-colored drinks, honey and honey-based products, Milo and Bournvita, dried leaves, cigarettes, fresh fruit, milk-based drinks, fake designer goods, calabash chalk, beans, and non-alcoholic herbal drinks.
This list describes Tianah's own sea cargo acceptance policy for the UK. It is not a full statement of UK import law, so confirm your items with our team and check the official guidance.
If that list feels long, you're not imagining it. UK sea cargo restrictions are among the most detailed of any destination we ship to. The good news: most of these restrictions apply to specific categories (raw/perishable foods, dairy-based products, and counterfeit goods), so packaged, approved dry goods still have a clear path through.
Our advice: before you start packing a box for the UK, run your item list past our team. A five-minute check can save your shipment from being held or rejected outright at customs.
